Talks have been going on and about for some time now to resolve border tensions between India and China, but all of that seems to have no impact on either of the two nations. We are talking about peace here but China seems to have a different definition about it. Recently China has deployed as many as 60,000 soldiers at the line of actual control. In this situation, great tension rises between not only between these two nations but also for the rest of the world.
United States secretary of states, Mike Pompeo has a slightly different perspective on china’s ‘bad behavior’. Mike Pompeo said that India might need the united states to be an ally for India as the time has come now where china has become quite aggressive and talks would not do the deal anymore. The tension between India and China rose back in June during the Galway valley clash where about 20 Indian soldiers were killed including a colonel. Since then both India, as well as China, have not seen eye to eye and neither of them plans on doing so. CCP’S or Chinese communist party has shown clear signs of territorial aggression on the Indian borders when china forcefully tried to seize the line of actual control.
The whole world has been caught up in this tension, where foreign ministers from quad countries namely the US, Australian japan, and India met in Tokyo on Tuesday. This has been the first political conversation since the global pandemic began in March. On returning to the US, Pompeo gave three different interviews and did not have many good words for china. He even used words like ‘bad behavior’ and that ‘tide’s begun to turn’.
He gave an interview on The Guy Benson Show. Where he told larry O’ Connor that he met with the leaders of the quad countries to discuss the further plan of action now, that china has become so upfront with the whole world giving clear signs of war. If deploying 60,000 soldiers at the border are not the signs of starting a fight then nobody knows what it could mean. He also told the host that whether it may be India who is facing china physically in Himalayas China is a threat to the four countries on personal notes. He stated that the four of the quad countries were now developing a set of policies that would present resistance to the threats to any of the four countries from china when he mentioned that India needed America to be its ally on this one especially.
The world has awakened and the tide’s begun to turn. And also the coalition built under President Trump’s leadership will push back against any Chinese threat and maintain law order and security that comes from democracies controlling the world and not from authoritative regimes, Pompeo added.
On speaking in the second interview with the Fox News, that china has stacked around 60,000 soldiers on the northern segment and was threatening India now. Earlier when the Australian government asked for an inspection about the novel coronavirus when it began in Wuhan the Chinese communist party not only threatened them but also bullied them. The United States secretary was worried and looked like the US had become sick of china threatening nations under the name of justice. He said that the nations were in a strong need to be friends with each other and help each other in this time of need. He exclaimed that not raising a voice against china has only encouraged their notorious activities and that it was about time now.
Mike Pompeo seemed pretty serious in his words when he said that china realizes that it has been doing wrong for a long time now and that it understands the situation when they will confront them and impose costs upon them. He felt confident that the Chinese communist party would reconsider its ideas to harm America.
After the meeting held in Tokyo, Pompeo will be traveling shortly to New Delhi along with the defense secretary Mark Esper for the annual talks with the Indian counterparts. The state department also told that the deputy secretary of State Stephen Biegun will also be traveling to Delhi to prepare for the meeting.
Despite the tensions between India and China, India chose to shut its eyes on from formal alliances with outside powers under its doctrine of “strategic autonomy.” When Taranjit Singh Sandhu, India’s ambassador to the United States was asked about the conflicts with china at the conservative Heritage Foundation, he remarked that Asian powers had historic linkages and that they welcomed each other’s scholars.
Sandhu also told the media that US-India ties had been growing rapidly and this relationship had a much wider aspect rather than to worry about china and its misdeeds. He sparked that India and the united states might be discussing some defense areas while Pompeo and esper were in the country for the meeting.
The tensions that have risen to the height of eternal bloodshed cannot be curbed so easily now. The two nations are struggling to make peace with each other, and by the looks of it, seems it is going to stay this way for a while now. We can only hope that there is not much loss of life and the situations ‘de-escalates’ as quickly as possible.
