Blaming God for man’s actions is a ritual that has been going on for ages now. People had forgotten a major part of it until now. It was brought into the light again when the finance minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman allegedly stated that eight months into the COVID pandemic was all an act of god! This would have been easy to digest if it would not have clear links to the downfall of the economy that comes along with it. This is by far the most illogical and dumb explanation to be given from someone by the looks of the Nirmala Sitharaman. The power had been vested in you to lead the nation to success by taking care of the financial situations that come with it. But except for taking responsibility, giving irrational explanation to a situation is pointless. This proves how big of a disgrace are you to the country that houses more than 1.33 billion people and to yourself.
The exact words as quoted by our honorable finance minister were “This year we are facing an extraordinary situation. We are facing an act of God where we may even see a contraction”. This gets funnier every time you read it and if you read it enough you will start realizing the seriousness of the situation that we are in. On one hand, we are dealing with the global pandemic that has caused about 800k deaths to date and is not on any notes of declining, on the other hand, we have these great minds, who we have chosen to lead a country like India. If they are giving such remarks then there is no hope for the rest of us.
Covid-19 is not an act of god. That is all science and if you study close enough that can be thought of as a move to slow down the economic growth of not only India but the whole world. But you do not see any other nation ranting about god and imposing all the sufferings that are caused onto him, Then why India? With a country with the second-largest population, you would expect the country to have 1.33 billion minds that should work in harmony to uplift the whole nation as one but instead, what do we have? People like Nirmala Sitharaman are the reasons for major success in the downfall of the economy. Agreed the economy has been hit because there are so many mouths to feed as the pandemic has hit the employment sector. But there is not even a single point that allows you to pit the situation as an act of god and instead of working to get back on track you sit back, relax and mumble a few words. People are filled with rage but have no way to channel that out because they are not entitled to the luxury that Indian ministers are. Things that follow India like its tail are low GDP, economy downfall, high illiteracy rate and not to miss low employment. If only our ministers would give importance to the condition of the country we are living in this would not have been the situation. India’s GDP has hit a low of -29.3% in the second quarter of 2020 but do we see anybody doing something about it. The answer to this is absolute no! There is an urgent need to tell all of the government officials that, tweeting about an issue on social media and tagging the concerned authorities will not make India successful but working towards it will, which is not in the books of any government minister or anybody who is in charge of that department. Every year India records a new low for the downfall of GDP. Every year there are lakhs of pleas for better jobs and education but that remains in talks, no strict action is taken. By the time next year arrives and we all gear up to record new lows. This has become so normal and helpless of a situation that people have started giving up on even their rights. The population is scared of the government more than it trusts it. And here thoughts like these invade people’s minds there is nothing much left to save after that.
All we can do is now “pray” to God that there may no more be “acts of God” which will later become the excuse to ride on for India’s powerful government crushing dreams and hard work of billions of people
